Blue Spring Corporation believes that water is not a disposable commodity but a valuable natural resource that must be used efficiently. Blue Spring Corporation zero discharge closed-loop water recycling systems help industries conserve water and prevent environmental pollution.
Blue Spring zero discharge closed-loop water recycling systems use a unique combination of reverse osmosis, chemical precipitation and evaporation technologies to achieve a highly cost-effective zero discharge solution to the water pollution problem. Blue Spring zero discharge closed-loop water recycling systems separate the water from the contaminating chemicals, purify it and recycle it back to the operation where it is used, thereby eliminating discharge to the local environment.
At the present time, Blue Spring offers two zero discharge closed-loop water recycling configurations:
1. The patented PrecipROTM configuration in which purified water is recovered from the wastewater and recycled back to the operations where it is used. Dissolved chemicals are rendered insoluble by cerain physical or chemical means and separated out from water. Continuous removal of solutes from water results in increased recovery of water in the system, approaching 100% in many cases. The recovered chemicals are available in a compact form which is usually non-hazardous. They may be recycled back to the operation where they originate, or they may be sold as product, or they may be sent out for disposal. There is zero discharge to the local environment. The PrecipROTM configuration is particularly useful when a number of chemical impurities from different sources are present in the wastewater and when the contaminating chemicals are sparingly soluble in water. In addition to recycling industrial wastewater, the patented PrecipROTM technology has diverse applications such as extraction of natural ingredients, chemical reaction yield improvement, and remediation of contaminated soils.

2. Blue Spring ConcROTM configuration which is similar to the PrecipROTM configuration except that the dissolved chemicals are not separated out. The water is recovered and recycled in a purified form as with the PrecipROTM system, whereas the chemicals are recovered in the form of a concentrated aqueous solution. The concentrated solution of chemicals may be recycled to the same process where they are used, or it may be sent out for disposal after further volume reduction. When the concentrated solution is recyclable, the ConCOTM system becomes a truly zero discharge system, since there is no net discharge to the local environment at the facility or anywhere else. This zero discharge application of ConcROTM system is however, limited to a single operation. If applied to mutiple operations, there is a danger of cross-contamination of chemicals. Also, both the recovery and the quality of the recycled water is relatively lower in the ConcROTM configuration than the PrecipROTM configuration, but it should not matter too much in local recycling, since the contaminants are no different than the original process chemicals.

Blue Spring PrecipROTM zero discharge water recycling system distinguishes itself from other wastewater treatment systems and other zero discharge systems in terms of its extra-ordinary efficiency in recycling water, in removal of precipitable chemicals, and its extra-ordinary cost-effectiveness. Typical water recoveries are 95-98% and in some cases, almost 100%, without fouling the reverse osmosis membranes. Removal of precipitable chemicals is almost 100% even when the chemicals are sparingly soluble.
With Blue Spring's PrecipROTM patented zero discharge closed-loop water recycling systems, now it is possible to recycle water for less than what it costs to purchase fresh water and then discharge it to the environment, in the polluted form, in most pollution conscious localities.
Both PrecipROTM and ConcROTM zero discharge closed-loop water recycling systems are available in fully factory-assembled, factory-tested, Plug-n-Go modules in 1 gpm to 20 gpm ( 4 lpm - 72 lpm) capacities. Systems with larger capacities up to 130 gpm (500 lpm) are shipped in transportable modules which can be easily assembled on site.
