BLUE SPRING CORPORATION INTRODUCES NEW, WP-EDI SERIES USP PURIFIED WATER SYSTEMS FOR THE PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY Dated May 1, 2009
Blue Spring Corporation of Texas, U.S.A. announced new, WP-EDI Series water purification systems based on Blue Spring's latest hybrid RO/EDI technology. These compact units have foot-print as small as 56 cm x 118 cm and they deliver up to 6,000 liters per hour of high-quality pharmaceutical grade Purified Water, which meets the latest USP XXIX standards. The EDI technology offers highly consistent output water quality and lower operating costs, compared with the conventional ion-exchange deionization technology, according to Blue Spring Corporation. It is also environmentally friendly, because no chemicals are used for regeneration of ion exchange resins. These USP Purified Water systems are ideal for pharmaceutical companies who manufacture non-injectable pharmaceutical products; such as, oral preparations, topical creams and lotions, eye-drops, contact lens cleaners and other OTC products. They are also ideal for diluting disinfectants; such as, isopropyl alcohol and hydrogen peroxide. The new breed of pharmaceutical water purification systems show outstanding performance and impeccable reliability. Output conductivities range from 0.3-1.0 mS/cm depending on the feed water source. The bacteria content is very low, below 1 cfu/ml on a long term basis. TOC content is of the order of 100-200 ppb. The installation and operation is simplified, because all components are included within the same cabinet, which also includes a simple-to-use sanitizing system. Blue Spring Corporation also offers closed-loop output re-circulation option for the WP-EDI series pharmaceutical water purifiers. Unlike other designs, the Blue Spring system does not require, purified water storage tanks, re-circulation pumps, breather filters or microfilters or UV lights in the purified water recirculation loop, which eliminates the possible sources of re-contamination of the product water. According to the manufacturer, the closed-loop output configuration actually enhances the Purified Water quality with time, due to repeated purification of water, through the water purification system. System stabilization is rather quick, within an hour, thus eliminating the need for 24/7 operation. Blue Spring Corporation also manufactures WFI-EDI series double-pass reverse osmosis units combining EDI technology, for the production of Water-for-Injection, per U.S.P. 29.
