SCRUBBING THE AIR SCRUBBER

HOW IT WORKS

In the conventional air scrubber, the wastewater is collected in a sump at the bottom of the scrubber. This wastewater is continuously re-circulated in the scrubber by means of a pump. A  portion of this wastewater must be removed periodically to limit the amount of impurities accumulated in the scrubbing water or else they will be discharged into the air in the form of a fine mist.

PrecipROTM system continuously takes a portion of this wastewater from the sump, treats the contaminants, separates them from water, purifies the water and recycles the purified water back to the air-scrubber.

AN IDEAL ZERO DISCHARGE SOLUTION FOR THE WET AIR-SCRUBBERS, 
FUME SCRUBBERS AND CHROME SCRUBBERS

ZERO DISCHARGE, CLOSED-LOOP CHROME SCRUBBER
in an electroplating shop using hexavalent chromium process, fine mist containing hexavalent chrome is emitted just above the plating tank. This air must be ducted way from the operating area, since hexavalent chrome is known to be highly carcinogenic. The air is passed through a Chrome Scrubber before it is discharged to the environment. The effluent wastewater from the  chrome-scrubbing operation becomes polluted with highly toxic hexavalent chromium which causes groundwater pollution, if discharged into the natural water supplies.

Flue Gas Scrubbers are  commonly used in the power-generation industry, to remove sulfur dioxide, oxides of nitrogen and other acidic gases which are responsible for acid rain. In coal-burning power plants, emissions of toxic heavy metals such as arsenic and mercury compound the problem. The effluent wastewater from the flue gas scrubber becomes polluted with sulfurous acid, sulfuric acid, nitrous acid, nitric acid. In case of coal-burning power plants, the effluent water is further contaminated with toxic heavy metals such as arsenic, mercury and lead, which causes  groundwater pollution, if discharged into natural water supplies.

PrecipROTM zero discharge closed-loop wastewater recycling system neutralizes the acids in the effluent wastewater and converts them into harmless salts such as sodium nitrate and sodium sulfate which may be used as fertilizers.  In the same system, nearly 100% of the toxic metals such as  arsenic, mercury and  lead  are recovered in the form of solid metal oxides which can be taken to a designated disposal site, for safe disposal. Fume Scrubbers are commonly used in the chemical  processing industry, to remove fumes generated in the chemical reactions.  These fumes may be organic or inorganic in nature and may be extremely toxic. Water is commonly used to absorb the fumes before the air is released to the environment. The effluent wastewater from the fume  scrubber becomes highly contaminated with these toxic chemicals, which causes  groundwater pollution, if discharged into natural water supplies.
